The TSM crew started the new year out at beautiful Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club in Haines City, Florida. Only 15 miles from Walt Disney World, this beautiful tract is another well kept secret amongst the wonderful Central Florida golf courses. I am not easily impressed, but this could be the most magnificent golf course in the state of Florida |

Southern Dunes was opened in 1993, and designed by renowned golf course architect, Steve Smyers. I was told there was approximately 183 bunkers sprinkled throughout this course. Once I heard this, I started wiping off my trusty sand wedge. |

There is only one water hazard, but the clever cross-bunkering, and large and plush greens, that are defined with humps, layers, and ridges, make Southern Dunes a wonderful challenge to golfers of all levels.
The course measures 7,227 yards from the tips (Black), the Blue is 6,803, the White is 6,298, the Gold is 5,633, and the Ladies (Red) is 4,987. The TSM team played the Blues.

Due to the way the bunkers are designed, you can easily be fooled to think that the fairways are wider than they appear. You must strategically decide in advance which path you will take to the green, unlike other courses where you just pound it down the fairway.
If you have ever played the desert courses in Palm Springs, or Arizona, you will see quite a remarkable resemblance to them at Southern Dunes. Each hole is an artist’s masterpiece, and you will revel in delight as you approach each tee. Each green is spacious, but heaven forbid if you miss them with your approach shots, the results could be devastating.
